アーティストプロフィール:Miss Van
ミス ヴァンは、18歳から街でウォール・ペインティングを始め、女性のストリート・アーティストの第１人者でもある。1990年代半ばには、彼女が官能的な女性達をモチーフにした作品が街の中心地の壁に突然出現したりしたが、それらは時代を感じさせることなく、まるでずっとそこにあったように馴染んでいた。
今では、ニューヨーク、ロサンゼルス、アジアなどで展
示を行うようになった。また、オーストリアのシュヴァッツのシティ・ギャラリー、イギリスのバルティック・アート・センター、そして、ドイツのヴッパータールのフォン・デア・ハイト美術館（クンストハレ）などでも展示を行ったことでも知られている。
彼女はますますアイコンとなって来ている。キャレブ・ニーロンは「そのアーティストの作品無しで世界がどう見えるか思い出せないくらい見慣れて初めて、そのアーティストが持つインパクトを感じることができる。トゥールーズ出身で現在はバルセロナ在住の彼女の作品を目にするようになり、作品すべてが、ある種の時代を超越したクオリティを持っているのを感じた。それ以来、彼女の作品は進化を続け、カワイイは形をひそめ、より魅力を増している。顔の表情がぼかされることでより複雑に、そのセクシーなオーラを放っている。今後、ギャラリーでの作品発表に精力的に取り組めば、ストリートのみならずより洗練された媒体で作品のニュアンスを生かせるだろう。そして、更に繊細で精巧かつ微細な表現となっていくことだろう。」と語っている。

Artist Bio: Miss Van
Miss Van started wall-painting in the streets at age 18, initiating the feminine movement in street art. When Miss Van’s sultry female characters began to pop up on city center walls in the mid 1990s, they possessed a timeless quality, as if women had always painted such graffiti in the streets. She is now exhibiting all around the world from NY to LA, Europe to Asia. She has shown in art centers and museums such as the city gallery of Schwaz in Austria, the Baltic Art Center in the UK, and the Von der Heydt Museum, Kunsthalle in Wuppertal, Germany.
Miss Van’s work has become iconic. As Caleb Neelon explains, “An artist’s impact is truly felt when their work becomes so familiar that it’s hard to remember what the world was like without it. When the Toulouse native and current Barcelona resident Miss Van’s characters began to pop up . . . they instantly possessed a timeless quality. Since then, her characters kept evolving, becoming less cute and more dangerously alluring, their sexy aura made all the more complex by their increasingly ambiguous facial expressions. The more she moved into gallery work and could work with the nuances of more fragile media than the streets would allow, her characters grew even more sensitive, subtle, and delicately rendered.”
