アーティストプロフィール: Artist: Mantis
南アフリカ生まれのマンティスは、過去10年間、都会的かつ現代アートのシーンに多くの作品を作り出してきた。作品は都会の街で暮らす一般人に立ちはだかる社会的問題が中心になっている。そこに希望を感じられるものの、作品は社会的良心の暗い部分に議論を投げかけている。そして彼の作品を通して、新しい考え方や良心に沿って生きること、ポジティブで新しい方向示していくことを提案している。
彼の作品は世界のメジャーなギャラリーのグループ展で展示されており、彼が拠点としているロンドンからロサンゼルス、マイアミ、オーストラリア、バンコク、ベル
リン、そしてローマまで幅広い。世界のステンシルアー
ティストトップ20人を集めた書籍にも登場し、また、作品はイタリアのメタルバンドからBrit Mod God rocker Paul Weller をはじめとする幅広いアーティストのアルバムカバーやミュージックビデオなどにも使われている。そして現在、大きな期待が寄せられている彼の個展「Altered State」に向けて準備を進めている。

Artist bio: Mantis
South African born, Mantis has been a steady contributor to the urban and contemporary art scenes for the last decade. His work reflects primarily on the social issues that confront the average person enduring the daily city grind. Although full of hope, his art continually questions the darker edge of the social conscience. Mantis asks through his work that we enter into a new way of thinking, and that we play the game of life with heart, pushing forward collectively in a positive and constructive new direction.
Mantis has participated in numerous group shows at leading galleries around the world, from his base in London to Los Angeles, Miami, Australia, Bangkok, Berlin and Italy. He’s been featured in a book of twenty of the world’s leading stencil artists, and his work has appeared on album covers and music videos for a variety of musicians, from Italian metal bands to Brit Mod God rocker Paul Weller. He will soon be following up his highly regarded first solo show, ‘Altered State.’
